My work as an artist is very much in the nature of play. I start by assembling and manipulating materials, painting and cutting paper, bending wire, attaching pieces of metal together, etc., usually with no image in mind. If I find myself in a playful state and all goes well, an interesting subject or pattern for development will sometimes appear. I try to be open during this process to allow for the unexpected.
